Service Sponsorship: Working Smarter, Not Harder Al-Anon is a program of action; service is a willingness in action, to give back to the fellowship (usually, eventually, with an attitude of gratitude).
When we get into service, we are encouraged to have a service sponsor who has already "walked the talk", and therefore able to guide us along our way.
